These pictures are a
snap shot of a three day project we just completed.
We removed some old slate, next
set it up for hand thrown rock & stamped overlay on the
flat porch surface, Next we sprayed the epoxy fortified
commercial coating on everything, Next we painted all
the rock with our exclusive seventeen color process
although the pictures don't show it we added real
automotive metal flake in the commercial Floric
solvent Gloss sealer ( It's Magic ) Next we painted the
front doors with the color called Mickey's Shadow . The
customer was thrilled!

Speckle
This
is one method I will want to use on any rock that I paint.
Every rock you look at has some speckles on it. Some rocks
may only have 2 % to 5 % speckles, other like granite can
have 100 % speckles.
Water Washing
Water
washing is just what it sounds like, I start with a dry
surface apply the stain then starting from the top,
washing off as much or as little stain as it takes to gain
the desired antiquing result.
Toners
Toners
are used to randomize the rock so that they don’t all look
the same or to change the color tone of a rock. I toner the
rock before, during, and after staining the rock - This process is a must to make your rock look real.
Sponging
There
are a lot of patterns I can make using the sponging method,
it all depends on what I use to sponge with. I don’t need to
use a sponge to call it sponging. I can use all different
types of sponges or paint brushes, wadded up paper, plastic,
tin foil or rags to make all kinds of different patterns.
Surface Skimming
The skimming
will effect the higher elevations of the rocks
texture. The valleys or lower texture areas will remain
unaffected. This method can really bring the life out of the
rocks texture. This method is used in the beginning of a
paint process, never in the middle or the end of a painting
process.
